This research has analyzed contemporary Persian poetry in Iran and Tajikistan from the era of awakening and constitutionalism to the mid-nineties from the perspective of resistance poetry.
Research findings
The results of the present research show that the flow of sustainability poetry in the contemporary era began with the emergence of the awakening and constitutionalism movement in Iran and the education (maref parvari) and newism (jadidiye) movement in Tajikistan, with branches such as Islamic internationalism, nationalist sustainability poetry, socialist sustainability poetry, and sustainability poetry. Religious poetry, poetry of the Islamic Revolution (in Iran), poetry of war, and poetry of holy defense (in Iran), which are very similar in form and content, continued until the mid-nineties in both countries. Tajik nationalist poetry, characterized by its emphasis on the Tajik language, historically opposed Uzbek pan-Turkism. During the Soviet era, however, some Tajik poetry focused on the Soviet Union rather than Tajikistan itself. War poetry in Tajikistan was formed with anti-fascism poetry at the time of Nazi Germany’s attack on the Soviet Union and reached the civil war on the eve of this country’s independence. However, in Iran, the poetry of war has been manifested after Saddam attacked the Islamic Republic of Iran and in the poetry of holy defense. The influence of the poetry of the Islamic revolution and Shia teachings after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the independence of Tajikistan is evident in several young Tajik poets.
